NewSpace 2011 will again be held in Silicon Valley again this year
Dr. Ron Clark started Space Orbital Systems to build a commercial business to provide transport and service for in-space satellite systems. Dr. Clark began working in this business area while he was the Director of Future Concepts and Analysis for Lockheed Martin Space Systems. While there he was responsible for Future Concepts, Mission Analysis, System Architecture, and Space Systems Internal Research & Development. Previously, Dr. Clark held several other positions within Lockheed Martin, including Technology Planning and Analysis, GPS System Architect, Capture Director, Director of Advanced Systems, and Director of Technology Applications for the Advanced Technology Center. Before joining Lockheed Martin in 1989, Dr. Clark was a member of the DoD Senior Executive Service and was the Director of the Naval Technology Office at the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) where he managed the development of advanced DoD technologies and systems. While at DARPA he received the Meritorious Civilian Achievement Award from the Secretary of Defense. Before going to DARPA, Dr. Clark had several positions in the Pentagon where his last position was the Technical Advisor to the Chief of Naval Operations, Director of Naval Warfare. Previously, Dr. Clark held multiple positions with the US Navy, including Research Scientist, Program Manager, and Group Director. Dr. Clark was born in Memphis, Tennessee. He holds a Ph. D. in Solid State Physics from Florida State University and a B.S. degree in Physics and Mathematics from Arkansas State University. Dr. Clark is married and has four children. He resides in Cupertino, CA.
